A peaceful and serene atmosphere can be felt in EPV Energia Oy’s office on the top floor of Kuparitalo. The design emphasized comfort, responsibility, and timeless aesthetics. Since EPV is involved in the green transition by producing energy from renewable natural resources, sustainable design was a given in this project.

“We embarked on this project because our old spaces needed an update and change. The space was also becoming too small for us, and we wanted to ensure that cramped spaces wouldn’t limit our ability to work in the office. We hoped the new spaces would be bright, modern, and comfortable, and all of these wishes were fulfilled in this project,” says EPV’s CEO, Rami Vuola.

Flexible spatial layout and a calming soundscape

The office exudes tranquility and warmth, providing a workspace for EPV’s Helsinki staff. The design also took into account employees working at EPV’s other locations in Finland, who are welcome to use the Helsinki office during their travel days. The flexible spatial and operational model allows working in different parts of the floor: there are spaces allowing quiet and focused work, as well as places for casual conversations and socializing. The carefully designed environment ensures high-quality working conditions in various situations.

Particular attention has been paid to acoustics and the sound environment, with solid structures and acoustic surfaces to give the space a sense of rhythm. The floor is divided by large, magnificent pivot doors that swing around their axis. They allow the space to be opened and closed as required.

Smooth collaboration from the early stages of the project

After defining the spatial needs and operational models, the project was made as easy as possible for EPV. The goal was a turnkey model, allowing the client to focus on their own work. Workspace was involved in the project even before the lease negotiations, ensuring a comprehensive outcome, with the landlord’s team delivering impressive spaces based on Workspace’s designs and guidance.

The final touches, such as furniture placement and logo installations, were completed on-site in close cooperation with the furniture supplier. EPV employees were able to move into the new, fully finished spaces within the agreed timeframe.

“The entire design process was handled by Workspace with great professionalism. Workspace helped us participate in the design process just the right amount. We received clear insights on how to create spaces that met our desires for brightness and comfort. The Workspace design team paid attention to small details, like decorative lighting, while also keeping the overall project vision in mind. This combination is something we’re particularly pleased with and found very beneficial. We are extremely satisfied with the final result!” describes EPV’s CEO, Rami Vuola.

“This was a great project! We were able to work with a responsible operator to create a space where quality, well-being, spaciousness and community were the driving forces throughout the project.” – Martta Suurpää, interior architect.
