Nefco, The Nordic Green Bank, plays a significant role in promoting the green transition, with financing activities extending from the Nordic countries to Africa. In Finland, Nefco is known for its collaboration with innovative SMEs such as Norsepower, Coolbrook, and Sulapac, as well as its efforts in supporting the sustainable reconstruction of Ukraine. The company’s headquarters in Kaisaniemi is home to approximately 60 employees, and the organization continues to grow.

Nefco’s values—“thrive together, grow for good, and ever improving”—guided both our design process and the daily work on-site through practical solutions. Our goal was clear and shared: to enhance collaboration, improve employee experience, develop a culture of interaction, and foster creative problem-solving capabilities. We addressed these challenges in workshops, where we also explored how work practices will evolve and how they should be developed in the coming years.

Office for the future way of working

A deep understanding of what different job roles require in terms of space, collaboration, and technology is at the core of the employee experience. The main focus of space planning was flexibility, a balance between concentration and interaction, technical solutions, and enabling spontaneous encounters. All this is reflected in the office, where large and inviting meeting areas, such as the “Party Area” work café, serve as multi-purpose spaces. Here, employees can work, converse, innovate, and enjoy coffee in a relaxed atmosphere.

Sustainable Design and Timeless Materials

Our shared goal with the client—ecological responsibility and sustainable development—guided the design process from the outset. We utilized existing structures and selected sustainable, adaptable solutions for both furnishings and materials.

The result is a workspace designed for employees, where the future is built together. The design not only achieved an attractive and appealing environment but also created a setting that supports daily work and enables continuous development within an elegant and inspiring office space.
